A Summer’s Walk through the Word

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and
walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us,
an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. (Eph. 5:1-2)

This is the second week of my summer Bible study. We are doing a topical study this year on "Walking with God". This walk with God begins with relationship as the above passage says, "as beloved children." God has a vested interest in us. He is known by His discipline, as well as, His love of His children.

We are able to love because He first loved us as it says in first John. We are able to walk with Him and be imitators of Him because His grace makes it all possible. "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus who
gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify
for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds." (Titus 2:11-14) As these verses in Titus show us, and I may have mentioned this before, God's grace is the power that redeems us from lawless deeds and makes us zealous to live sensibly, righteously and godly RIGHT NOW. IN THIS PRESENT AGE. Salvation is for this present time.

God saves us to walk in relationship with Him and to imitate Him by walking in love.

For His Name's sake.
